Halls

Don’t ditch that duvet – donate it!

By TerSL 08 May 2017

If you no longer want your duvet or pillows when you leave halls, please don’t throw them away as a local charity PACE could make use of them.

Pace supported housing delivers effective affordable services for disadvantaged people in Derby and Derbyshire.  It works to support people who are homeless, helping them to change and improve their lives by providing safe and stable accommodation.

To donate your clean and unstained duvet simply bag it up in a bin bag and put a PACE sticker on it  - that way staff will know you want to donate it to this worthy cause. Donate me stickers will be arriving in your kitchens soon so look out for them. Please remember that the British Heart Foundation cannot accept duvets and pillows so only donate duvets to PACE.

This initiative is the brainchild of Kaylie Siddons , University of Derby - Student's Union placement student.

When I realised that duvets couldn’t be donated to the British Heart Foundation, the main charity, promoted in halls , I thought maybe we could support a local charity as well. PACE can make good use of your unwanted duvets and pillows and it’s such a great charity to support. It helps people practically but also gets them to think about their health, well-being and future in order to promote independence.

So before you chuck stuff out, think about donating it – it’s a win, win all round.
