If you didn’t come along to a Hall Welcome Meeting in the first week of term you might have a few questions that now need answering – like
- When's the next Unibus? and
- What do I do if there’s a maintenance issue? or
- What should I do if I’m feeling homesick?
Fear not – assistance is here either online or in person via our friendly hall staff so don’t despair. Check out the handy information below and the list useful links to help you access what you need to know.
Hall staff - Check out the photos on display near your hall office. This is your hall team and they are there to help. Your first port of call with a problem should be your Hall Manager, or if it’s out of office hours and it really can’t wait ring the hall mobile. The number should be on the office door.
The Unibus - We suggest you download the free app from the app store. It's the easiest way to get the information you need about the timetable.
Laundry - Most laundries are near the hall office. You’ll need to buy a laundry card with two pound coins from the vending machine there. Then top it up online with cash and use it to work the washers and dryers. Full instructions are in the laundry.
Collecting your post - The blue post lockers at your hall are either in the common room or near the office. You were given the code for your mail locker when you arrived. Use this to access the locker for your block. Parcels and other items like bank cards etc will be kept safely in the hall office and you can pick them up from there during office hours. We’ll leave a little note in your locker to let you know if things have arrived for you and what time you can collect them.
Smoking - You probably know that smoking is not allowed in halls but did you know that every hall has a smoking shelter? Yes it's that thing that looks like a bus stop in the courtyard. Please don't smoke outside the blocks, as if windows are open in the flats above they get all the smoke!
For other answers to your questions, look here:
- The welcome pack you received on arrival
- The Halls Handbook (with details on how to report maintenance issues and fire safety tips)

- Halls events and what’s going on in the local area
We hope that's cleared a few things up for you but if you still have any burning questions, please don't hesitate to ask your hall staff.
