Free downloads and IT support for students

By TerSL 19 Mar 2018

Did you know that as a University of Derby student you can take advantage of free downloads such as Microsoft Student Advantage (Office 365)? This package includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook plus many more and can be downloaded onto your personal laptops and other devices. What’s more, you can download free security software too to prevent any nasty viruses or websites from damaging your devices!

IT Services have teamed up with Trend Micro to provide staff and students with free access to the Trend Micro Internet Security suite. The Trend Micro Internet Security suite can be used on a number of home devices and helps to protect you by:

  • preventing websites from installing dangerous software
  • defending your personal data from viruses and spyware
  • allowing you to set parental controls
  • providing a Secure Erase file shredder

To download the software for free you’ll need to register with the Trend Micro online store using your University email account. To access the store click here.

Have you heard about Eduroam? Eduroam is a wireless internet service and it allows you to get internet connectivity across our campuses. To access Eduroam, follow the step-by-step guide created by IT Services. And the good news is that IT Services  are in the process of installing additional wireless access points to give YOU even greater connectivity.

Did you know that our IT Services can help you with a wide range of technical support or issues you may have whilst you’re studying here? If you’re experiencing problems you can contact them by email, submit an online request, visit one of their IT help desks or call their 24/7 phone line.
