Union of Students elections coming soon.

By TerSL 02 Jan 2019

The Union of Students is a democratic organisation set up to represent the students of the University of Derby. To do this, it has to elect students into officer and representative positions with specific tasks in order to best represent the members.

The elections are organised so that any student can stand for election and vote for who they want to see represent them throughout the year. These elected students will then lead the Union of Students on behalf of every member of the Union and coordinate its work and direction.

There are 44 posts up for election, most of which are part time positions which represent a particular sector of the student population.

Key dates

  • Nominations close at 9am on Monday 18 February 2019 so you’ll need to act soon if you're interested.
  • The polls will open at 12 noon on Thursday 28 February 2019

  • The Union of Students have been given permission to canvas at halls from Monday 4 – Thursday 7 March.  This means that they will be putting posters up and buzzing on doors to speak to people.  Please advise hall staff if you feel a candidate is being a nuisance and being too persistent.
