Halls

Which hall is for you?

By TerSL 27 Feb 2019

Coming back to halls next year and not sure which hall to opt for?

Check out the wide range of halls and rooms available including some (the ones with the asterisk) which are eligible for our Love2Shop offer.

If you are one of the first 500 to apply for certain halls you’ll be entitled to a £125 Love2Shop voucher so hurry up and get applying!

Here’s the low down on all the halls and what each one has to offer :

Darley Bank  - We recently acquired this lovely hall with its en suite rooms, small double beds and trendy furnishings (see below).  We're really pleased that we can also offer self-contained studios to couples at ridiculously low prices.  When two people share, this can make the weekly rent as low as £75.04 per person! Get the complete low down on Darley Bank here.

Agard Court As well as being literally next door to the Law School, and very near Friar Gate, with all its bars, pubs and clubs, the hall has 244 en suite premium plus rooms. This room type includes a small double bed in your en-suite room and a social space with a TV and sofa in your kitchen, plus everything is brand, spanking new.  En-suite premium plus rooms are available.

Cathedral CourtThis hall in the Cathedral Quarter is great for getting into the city.  Derby Market Place, QUAD and all the shops are just around the corner from you, not to mention the Queens Leisure Centre swimming pool across the road and The Willows for Laser Quest just three minutes away. The rooms here offer the same perks as those at Agard Court as well as fantastic views over the Derby skyline.  En suite premium plus rooms available.

Peak CourtThe Unibus stop is just outside Peak Court and the Co-op at Five Lamps is just around the corner - very handy for supplies. It’s also very close to town and great venues like the Flowerpot, The Blessington Carriage (for comedy) and Deda (Derby Dance Centre).  The rooms have a small double bed, an en suite and great contemporary furnishings.  Parking is available on site for £300 a year and £150 for motorbikes. En-suite premium rooms are available.

Nunnery Court* - This hall offers mostly standard premium rooms and they’re lovely. If you haven’t seen them, contact the hall directly and ask for a look at a room. OK, so they cost a little bit more than a normal standard room (£7.04 a week to be precise) but we reckon that’s worth it just for the small double bed, let alone the new fittings and fixtures and the trendy décor.  See for yourself below– we think you’ll be impressed.  Standard premium and en suite premium rooms available.

St Christopher’s Court *  - Literally across the road from Britannia Mill, five minutes’ walk from Markeaton Street and the STEM building and close to the Co-op for buying food.  Best of all the staff are luv-er-ly.  You couldn’t meet a nicer chap than Mark Severn, the caretaker and the cleaning team are really nice too! Like Nunnery Court, they cost a little bit more than a normal standard room (£7.04 a week to be precise) but we reckon that’s worth it for what you get. Premium standard, standard and en suite rooms available.

What about Sir Peter Hilton Court?* - Well, this hall has had some residents for three years on the trot so that tells you how well liked it is!  Some say it's because it’s ‘staggering distance’ from town, or because it's just over the road from One Friar Gate Square, others say it’s because it's the biggest hall so there are more people to get to know. Most of the flats contain standard rooms but there are also en suites and en suite plus rooms available there. The en suite plus flats have their own TV lounge which is great for socialising. There's lots of parking available and don't forget it has its own study space - The Malvern Room - which you can use for group study and practising presentations. Standard, en suite and en suite plus rooms available.

Princess Alice Court* - A bit smaller and cosier than Sir Peter Hilton Court but very handy for 67 Bridge Street , the Unibus and the city centre.  Most of the rooms are standard rooms and they are really good value for money at just £110.04 a week. They have a single bed, a desk , wash basin, wardrobe and bookshelves plus you have the added bonus that the communal shower and toilets get cleaned once a week. It's the best hall for budding chefs, (all of the cooking classes run by the events team take place there), cat lovers (a lovely grey cat seems to have adopted the place as his second home) and Adam, the Manager always has time for a friendly chat.  So if you want real value for money, a great atmosphere and the occasional cat fix, Princess Alice Court is for you. Standard and en suite rooms available.

Flamsteed CourtThis hall is reserved for mature and postgraduate students who require good quality accommodation that provides more independent living. The apartments offer double en suite rooms with their own open plan kitchen/diner/lounge area. You'll benefit from being literally on the doorstep of Kedleston Road, and literally two minutes away from the Sports Centre and Markeaton Park. Parking is free of charge to all residents and all apartments have their own washer/dryers. Double en suite apartment rooms available.
